AROMATHERAPY AND THE CORRECTION OF DOSHA IMBALANCE
Ayurveda is a medical science which utilizes
the positive effects of plants and herbs for the treatment of diseases
and disorders. Plants that are important to ayurveda have been collected
majorly from the indian subcontinent and usually offer a good value
for a lesser price.Ayurveda also employs medicated creams, lotions
and oils for treatment. However its considered best to use fresh
herbs rather than dried ones or oils as they lack the essential
healing properties. But ointments, creams etc are certainly easier

For the correction of vata dosha ayurveda uses oils which are
damp, soothing, and warm to effectively cure the disorder. Vata
has the symptoms of approaching sinility and is known to be of two
major types.
The first one is blocked vata wherein
the passages of the body are obstructed due to the deposition of
poisonous substanceswhich may be the consequence of bad stomach,
diorrhea, wrong eating habits etc. Through ayurveda these blockages
are removed and the treatment lasts for only a short period of time.
In the second type of imbalance there
is extreme aridness and loss of water in the body tissues.This can
also be successfully by ayurveda.
OILS THAT TREAT VATA DOSHA
Bergamont, orange, sandalwood, turmeric, frankincence, vetivert,
camphor oils. all these oils have essential qualities for the
treatment of vata.
OILS THAT TREAT PITTA IMBALANCE
Pitta
is treated with oils that are cooling in their effect, let excessive
heat out of the body and are essentially dry
Essential Oils That Balance Pitta
Sandalwood, jasmine, lavender, neroli, tea tree oils
These oils are extremely good for healing pitta.
Oils That Treat Kapha Imbalance
For
the treatment of kapha, ayurveda uses oils that are essentially
light, warm and dry, since kapha has opposite properties.
Oils That Cure Kapha
Camphor, cardamom, saffron, juniper berry oils
These oils cure kapha.
Out of all these oils tea tree oil and saffron oil treat all three
disorders.
